Garage Door Not Closing Unless Hold Button

If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch.
Garage door not closing unless hold button. I ve made sure there are no obstacles and that the sensors are aligned properly. When the door is up the sensor lights are off. I have disconnected the safety devises and still have the same issue. Door starts down then stops before it is closed.
Check for interference from adjacent photo eye sensors of any brand. Neither wireless remotes work. The transmitters remotes will not work to close the garage door. Check garage door for binding.
Besides longneck s excellent points if the garage door or opener is a new installation and has not worked before it could be that the opener s internal tension sensor is not correctly set. My garage door will not close unless i hold the button down. Press and hold the wall console button until the garage door is completey closed. Sometimes the fix can be as simple as replacing the batteries in the opener.
You will find that the door will only move an inch or so in the close direction and reverse. An intermittent alignment issue with the sensors or damaged sensor wiring or a failing sensor could sometimes make it impossible for the system to determine if anything is under the door and again it will prevent the door from closing normally. When you continuously hold down the close button in the garage you are over riding this system. Wireless remote works open the door but will not close the light out front starts flickering when we try to it with the wireless remote so we go inside push the button on the wall and hold it till it closes the door all the way.
If an operational problem exists and the garage door opener will not close the opener can be forced to close. Not a small light is the big ones out front that are flickering not the one in back t of the motor. If the door can be reasonably easily opened and closed by hand but the opener balks at closing the door the tension setting probably needs to be increased. Only the wall button will close it.
When this happens your garage door will only close by holding down on the wall button or wall console until the door fully closes. After i hold the button down to close it the sensor lights come back on.
