Garage Door Moving Unevenly Down The Track

Garage doors run along a series of tracks.
Garage door moving unevenly down the track. Adjusting the position of the track. Contact a professional garage door company if the door hangs unevenly or has jumped the track. Loosening the screws on the track. If the door was closing too quickly move the spring to the next higher hole on the bracket.
It is possible that the vertical track down the side has gone out of alignment and shifted due to a slightly loose lag screw. Improper alignment can cause squeaking but the repair is not a do it yourself task. There are a lot of things that feel a little uneven in your life and your garage door shouldn t be one of those things you re still trying to balance at the end of the day. Retest the door balance as you did in step 1.
Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws that are in the tracks to secure it to the garage door frame. The roller tracks on the sides of your garage door should be straight and clear of any obstructions. Push the door back to adjust the door and get the center aligned again. This will cause the unit to stick.
By pushing the door back into position you should have made the vertical track straighten. If the opener is adjusted properly the garage door will move up and down in an even motion. Once the spring is free of tension remove from its track hanger. A garage door is considered bound when it s difficult or impossible to move up and down.
Check that it is straight. Pulling the door up and down is a garage door opener. Adjust the springs on both sides of the door the same way. Without proper adjustment however the unit may run along the tracks unevenly.
If the tracks are crooked or blocked the garage door opener will struggle when opening or closing the door. You can also make sure the track is well lubricated by applying a non permeable garage door lubricant.
